As the unifying champion for quality youth mentoring in Nebraska, we help close the mentoring gap for the 1-in-3 young people growing up without mentors.
HOW WE USE YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS:
- $25 buys a book for one Success Mentors mentee.
- $50 pays for a background check for one potential mentor.
- $250 buys mentor match activity supplies for one Success Mentors school.
- $500 funds a leadership conference for refugee mentees.
A STORY FROM OUR AGENCY:
At Belvedere Elementary School, the Success Mentors program is making a powerful impact by pairing students with high rates of absences with caring, consistent mentors they see every day at school. One special match has grown into a meaningful bond that goes far beyond academics.
During lunch and downtime, the mentor and her mentee share conversations, laughter, and moments of reflection. Through this connection, they’ve developed a deep trust and a greater understanding of each other’s interests and goals. The mentor reflects, “I’ve learned more from her than I have in a long time just by watching her grow,” describing how her mentee has taught her the invaluable skill of patience.
In return, the mentee appreciates her mentor’s open-mindedness and genuine interest in her life. “I enjoy being with her and being able to grow with her,” she shares. Together, they celebrate every achievement—big and small—including the mentee’s proud moment of winning Student of the Month.
What started as a school-based mentorship has blossomed into a lasting relationship, with both planning to stay connected even after the program ends.
